Arlington Man Charged With Assaulting Officer At Woodbridge Carnival

WOODBRIDGE, VA — An Arlington man was arrested Wednesday night on charges of assaulting a police officer at a carnival at Gar-Field High School in Woodbridge Wednesday night, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Anthony Blade Silvers, 20, of Arlington was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, public intoxication, possession of alcohol by a person under 21, and possession of tobacco by a person under 21. Bond was set at $7,500 for Silvers. At about 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, officers assigned to an off-duty security detail at the carnival on the grounds of Gar-Field at 14000 Smoketown Road tried to detain Silvers for public intoxication. During the arrest, Silvers struck an officer in the head with a bag, police said. After a brief struggle, Silvers was taken into custody. The police said no one was injured in the incident.
