Next Collegiate League Forms, Features Faster Olympic-Style Lacrosse

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A six-team Historically Black Colleges and Universities lacrosse league that includes Bowie State University recently formed and began competing. Called the Next Collegiate League, the NCL features Olympic-style lacrosse, which is a faster paced, higher-scoring version of the sport. The ultimate goal of the league is to that players from this league will play in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The six founding members of the NCL are: Bowie State UniversityCoppin State UniversityDelaware State UniversityLincoln UniversityUniversity of Maryland Eastern ShoreMorgan State University "The Next Collegiate League will innovate and elevate the sport of lacrosse to make it more prominent and more accessible on campuses, especially for communities of color and throughout the country," André Gudger, owner/CEO of Next Level Sports & Entertainment, said. "We are providing a platform for Olympic-style lacrosse for students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities that has global reach and it will give athletes an opportunity to rapidly expand the sport and compete at all levels." The remainder of schedule for the NCL, which will have games primarily played on Sundays, is as follows: April 17April 21April 30May 1 All games are set to be played at Kehoe Track at Ludwig Field at the University of Maryland, College Park with the exception of April 21, which will be played at USA Lacrosse in Sparks. The games will be aired on Tuesdays from 8-10 p.m. ET on Next Level Sports & Entertainment.
