HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A Hudson County Correctional Police Officer was arrested on Wednesday on charges relating to falsified medical records he submitted to his employer, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.
Marko Nakhla, 34, of Bayonne, is charged with one count of forgery, a crime of the fourth degree. He was arrested without incident at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Jersey City and released on a summons.
An investigation showed that Nakhla submitted falsified medical records to his employer to receive additional paid medical leave, prosecutors said.
Nakhla is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Wednesday, May 4.
Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Public Integrity Unit with the arrest and investigation. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
