Mayor Greg Fischer today announced upcoming plans to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking racial barriers throughout Major League Baseball (MLB).
"We recognize the incredible courage Jackie Robinson exemplified 75 years ago in breaking racial barriers in not just Major League Baseball, but for sports throughout the country," said the Mayor. "Since I took office in 2011, racial equity has been the forefront of my administration, including the creation of Lean Into Louisville in 2019."
Mayor Fischer will join ESPN stars and nationally acclaimed panelists to discuss Robinson's career and courage on Friday, April 15, from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Skybox Room of the Louisville Slugger Museum.

Panelists will also recognize Pee Wee Reese – a native Kentuckian – who made the decision to publicly stand in solidarity with Robinson and against racial discrimination while exploring the question, "what would you do in your Pee Wee Reese moment?"

Lean Into Louisville explores and confronts the history and legacy of all forms of discrimination and inequality throughout our city and country.
