Evansville and Vanderburgh County residents have an opportunity to get rid of hazardous household items this weekend.
The local Solid Waste District will conduct its Tox-Away Day on the parking lot behind the Civic Center from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Items that can be turned in include household cleaners and aerosol cans; motor oil, filters, gasoline, and anti-freeze; oil-based paints, solvents, and thinners; pesticides, pharmaceuticals, smoke detectors, and pool chemicals.
Residents are asked to place items in the trunk or their car or a truck bed for safe removal.
Items not allowed include commercial and industrial waste, tires, appliances, and electronics.
