PALO ALTO, CA — The nurses union at Stanford Hospital and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital issued an intent to strike letter Wednesday, and nurses will begin to walk off the job on April 25. Ninety-three percent of the 5,000 nurses with The Committee for Recognition of Nursing Achievement (CRONA) voted to issue the strike notice last week after the union and hospital failed to reach a deal despite 13 weeks of negotiations. "The hospitals have not demonstrated that they are serious about meeting CRONA's demands on the issues that matter to Nurses," CRONA said in a statement. The strike is set to begin at 6:45 a.m. at Stanford Hospital and 7 a.m. at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. No end date has been announced for the strike.
