NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department responded to several incidents between April 8 and April 12. Read the details from their report: Friday, April 8 9:15 p.m. — Police were dispatched to Windy Bush Road and Durham Road in Wrightstown for a reported two-vehicle traffic accident with no injuries. Police arrested one driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results. 11:30 p.m. — Police stopped the driver of a gray Jeep Wrangler for a vehicle code violation on West Road. The officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol. He arrested the driver after they were unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests. The driver refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending. Saturday, April 9 2 a.m. — Police stopped the driver of a silver Lexus for a vehicle code violation on Swamp Road near Twining Bridge Road. They found a small amount of suspected marijuana and seized it as evidence, citing the driver. 11:30 a.m. — Police were dispatched to McCaffrey's Market for a retail theft. After officers investigated, they took one woman into custody and she was processed. Sunday, April 10 12:30 a.m. — Police stopped a black Toyota 4-Runner for a vehicle code violation on Durham Road and Second Street Pike in Wrightstown. Police found a firearm, suspected methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia and seized these as evidence. They arrested the driver for carrying a firearm without a valid license, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was processed without incident. 9 p.m. — Police stopped a black Nissan Pathfinder for a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass near Tyler State Park. In investigating, they found suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia and seized these as evidence. Charges are pending evidence results. Monday, April 11 8:30 p.m. — Police stopped the driver of a white Hyundai Elantra for a vehicle code violation on Sycamore Street. In their investigation, they discovered suspected heroin and seized it as evidence. Charges are pending evidence results. Tuesday, April 12 5:45 a.m. — Police were dispatched to the Newtown Post Office for attempted mail theft. The investigation is ongoing.
