TOWSON, MD — There are 87 cases of the new coronavirus in Towson in the 21204 ZIP code, according to data released Thursday. To protect the privacy of those who have tested positive for the virus, Baltimore County is not reporting on ZIP codes with fewer than seven cases, which is the case for neighboring areas like 21239 (Northwood), 21210 (Roland Park) and 21057 (Glen Arm). Testing remains limited in Maryland, where the Maryland Department of Health says: "Generally, only patients who exhibit symptoms and are at high risk require a test." Overall, Baltimore County has 4,290 confirmed cases and 207 deaths, with another 16 deaths believed to be related to COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, according to the Maryland Department of Health. Officials say 35,903 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus and 1,748 have died from COVID-19 in Maryland. An additional 118 have COVID-19 listed as a cause of death on their death certificates with test results pending.
