The Deerfield Youth Baseball and Softball Association has an opening for one assistant coach for one of our 12U Deerfield Warriors travel softball teams for this upcoming season! This 12U team consists of newer and developing travel softball players. If you are looking for a great spring/early summer opportunity to enhance your leadership skills while working with kids and having some fun, this may be the perfect position for you.
Assistant coach responsibilities include serving as a leader, mentor, and responsible adult to our developing softball players, as well as to support the head coach. The assistant could also start and run practices and games in the absence of the head coach.
The season is just starting. We play in the North Shore Fastpitch League (NSFPL) and generally start playing league games in late April. We start with practices 2-3 times per week, then move towards 3-4 times per week as we move into May. As we go deeper into the season, we move to a combination of 4-5 softball activities per week. We plan to compete in 3 local tournaments in May and June, our own hosted tournament (The Deerfield Warrior Classic on June 24-26), plus one out-of-state overnight tournament (July 8-10). Our season ends following the out-of-town tournament. The vast majority of weekday games and practices will begin after traditional working hours, i.e. after 5pm.
