TOWSON, MD — Towson area residents looking for retail therapy will soon have their wishes granted, at least as far as one local clothing chain is concerned. The Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack at Towson Town Center will reopen Thursday. "The past several months have been unlike anything we've ever experienced, and we're working hard to evolve so we can continue to show up in a meaningful way for you, our employees and communities," Pete and Erik Nordstrom said in a blog post. The company, like other retailers, closed their stores earlier in the spring in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, as many states begin to reopen, Nordstrom has started to do the same. With the opening of three outlets in South Carolina on May 6, Nordstrom began to gradually reopen its stores nationwide. On Thursday, June 11, the Towson store as well as the Annapolis store will reopen. The Towson location is at 700 Fairmount Avenue in Towson. The company has taken the following steps as part of its reopening plan: Conducting health screenings of employeesProviding face coverings for employees and customersLimiting employees and customers in the store to allow for 6 feet of distance per personIncreasing cleaning and sanitizationModifying the fitting room experienceContinuing to offer contactless curbside services at our full-line storesPausing or adapting high-touch services and customer eventsKeeping tried-on or returned merchandise off the sales floor for a period of timeAltering hours of operationAdding dividers at the registers"We want to be sure the approach we're taking to reopen our stores is thoughtful," Pete and Erik Nordstrom said, "and that we're creating a store environment that's safe for everyone." Patch editor Mark Hand contributed to this report.
