65 year old established Door, Frame, and Finish Hardware distributor is looking to hire an experienced warehouseman to help us within our distribution warehouse. We offer the following: • Medical/Dental/Vision • 401k • Paid time off after one year • Competitive salary; DOE SUMMARY This position is mainly a warehouse position and is in support to all sales staff. This position will require the ability to be a team player, take direction, and work for many different people at once. At any one time you may be working indirectly for multiple people, all with different personalities and requirements. Due to the nature of the construction supply business this position requires overtime. The key to this position is to turn in things complete, on-time, and without mistakes. Accuracy is more important than getting the job done fast. It will be very important for you to keep the things on your desk organized. It is also important for you to look at your work load and be able to communicate back to sales staff and department managers where you are at on a project and how long it will take you to complete it. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned. • Receiving contract finish hardware • Shipping contract finish hardware • Jobsite layouts/inventory • Operation of lift equipment • Rebuilding and re-handing locksets/exit device trim • Filling branch transfers • Be able to read detailed hardware schedules with locations, handing, and any other information needed for working and packaging of finish hardware. (90 days from date of hire) • Back-up support for contract warehouse department manager • Technical support for contract with walk-in customers and general contractors. • Jobsite visits – employee must have their own car with-in the first three months of taking on this new position • Obtains and sorts product. • Wraps protective material around product. • Nails, glues, or closes and seals containers. • Labels containers, container tags, or products. • Sorts bundles or filled containers. • Packs special arrangements or selections of product. • Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of packaging process. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Heavy use of fractional measurements and conversion between fractional and decimal numbers. Extensive use of tape measures and basic addition and subtraction of fractional numbers SUPPLEMENTAL TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY Competency of internal operating systems (eclipse) and any other software which supports this position. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
