HAMDEN, CT — A West Haven man was taken to the hospital after being shot during a robbery Friday in Hamden, according to police.
Hamden police were notified by New Haven police around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 27 that a gunshot victim was being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital after being shot in Hamden, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the 22-year-old victim was parked in his vehicle on West Easton Street in Hamden when a silver vehicle parked next to him. Five men got out of the vehicle and all had guns, according to Smith.
The victim was shot in the arm and leg, Smith said.
The shooting victim was talking to a friend when the five men arrived. The friend ran away, but stopped after hearing gunshots, according to Smith. He was then approached by two of the men, who pointed their guns at him. They then stole his wallet and cell phone, according to Smith.
Moments after being robbed, he returned to West Easton Street and saw that his friend had been shot and immediately drove him to the hospital, Smith said.
