HAMDEN, CT — Two women were robbed at gunpoint in separate incidents Wednesday morning in Hamden, according to police. The two street robberies happened between 7:45 a.m. and 10:21 a.m. on Dec. 9, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. In the first incident, a 29-year-old woman who was working as a nanny was robbed on Blue Hills Avenue. The victim was walking in a driveway when she was approached by a young man, according to Smith. The suspect pointed a gun at her and demanded her belongings, Smith said. The suspect stole her purse and tried to steal her vehicle. He left with several other juveniles in a red Honda toward Church Street, Smith said. Then at 10:21 a.m., Hamden police responded to Battis Road on the report of an armed street robbery. Police found that a woman was parked in her vehicle on the side of the road to make a phone call, according to Smith. Smith said the woman was approached by a man dressed in dark clothing who put a gun "to her temple" and demanded her belongings. She reluctantly gave him her purse, which had money and credit cards in it, according to Smith. The suspect was last seen running away, heading south on Battis Road. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Donald Remillard at 203-230-4052.
