…. And play bass or mando or fiddle?
We are an acoustic duo (banjo and guitar, both of us sing) looking for one or two more people. We are in our mid 30s and have straight jobs, this is for fun. But also we are not dicking around. We practice on Wednesday nights for about four hours. Solid bass player would be ideal, mando or fiddle would be a good 4th person. Notes for practice are ok but you need to be able to memorize 40-60 songs or at least have the ability to read guitar and/or banjo chords on the fly. You don’t have to know theory but you have to have a great ear, being able to chime in on harmonies is the priority.
If you are the right person but currently play some other instrument, and can count to 4, then I can teach you how to play bass in this style.
We are looking for someone who:
1. Passes the vibe check
2. Can find and sing a 2nd or 3rd harmony
3. Plays bass
4. Plays fiddle/mando
We do folky stuff, whatever doesn’t absolutely require a drum set. Obviously we also do 90s alt rock covers. And originals. We have a 2-3 hr set that is just about ready and are looking to start gigging in the next few months.
No age restrictions or gender preferences, no nihilists. If you have any issues with a female banjo player driving the rhythm then this is not for you. If you happen to be from Upstate NY then you get 1,000 bonus points.
