Description
The goal of using Communication Skills is to effectively get your message across to another person to help you get what you want. Teens are taught the Communication Skills Procedure in outpatient sessions at The Children's Center of Hamden. They learn how to express themselves to others. The procedure includes learning how to accept partial responsibility and to avoid blaming. When used in family sessions, the Communication Skills Procedure helps family members to resolve conflicts. Teens also report success when using the procedure at school with teachers. Sara Troland, a therapist at The Children's Center, uses the Communication Skills Procedure to help teens who misuse substances. To learn how The Children's Center can help your teen e-mail Christine Hauser, Director at [email protected]. The Center's website is www.tccoh.org
