La Liga Del Barrio is celebrating 22 years! For the first time La Liga del Barrio is producing its own Gala. Let's celebrate their story and help secure funds to build a permanent gym. La Liga Del Barrio - GalaBlack-Tie | Fine Dining | Live Music | Auction La Liga del Barrio is Philadelphia’s first Latino youth basketball league and it offers Latino youth an opportunity to develop basketball skills and enjoy the game while also promoting educational achievement. The league is open for boys and girls ages 6 to 18 and consist of up to 32 teams per season. As of 2021, the league expanded to include young adults ages 19-25. The Gala represent a celebration of serving nearly 10,000 youth and their families for over 20 years in the Latino community. Honoring Alumni from over the 20 plus years of service, many of whom now hold a Doctorate in Pharmacy like Samuel Reverón, are playing overseas professional basketball like Jose Ortiz (only Liga Player whose jersey was retired in a ceremony attended and presented by Governor Tom Wolf), Lateef Scott, an Amature Muay & MMA Champion, Raymond A. Alvarez, a Phila Police Officer, Malcolm Welles and Radame Rivera, Jr., educators, to name a few. La Liga Del Barrio Gala and the Silent Auction is being produced by Duarte Entertainment.
