Three Magnificat settings by Bach, Charpentier and Buxtehude performed by chamber choir, vocal soloists, and baroque orchestra.
Seicento Baroque Ensemble will showcase J.S. Bach’s glorious Magnificat in Eb (the rarely performed original version of his beloved Magnificat in D) in a celebratory concert of Magnificat settings from the Baroque era. The program will open with a delightful setting once attributed to Buxtehude, followed by a truly beautiful setting by Charpentier. These three regal and joyful pieces will bring back the full Seicento ensemble, with vocal soloists and a baroque orchestra of strings, three baroque trumpets, baroque oboes, baroque recorders, organ, and timpani. We will present our audiences with a full panoply of baroque sound, in gratitude for all their support during the trials of the pandemic!
