Description

Please join us to both honor Richie's life while learning about Myelofibrosis research being conducted at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Proceeds to benefit Myelofibrosis research at Dana-Farber: the disease that took Richie much too early from us. The late Richard “Richie” Lane had a storied 35-year career with the Belmont Police Department rising and holding most positions from Police Officer to Acting Chief. Richie co-founded Belmont DARE in the early 90’s. He served as Belmont’s DARE Officer in the Belmont schools educating children and instilling in them the basic and core skills to make wise and responsible choices, not just with drugs and alcohol, but in life. Richie was a role model to several generations of students and he was one to make a difference in their lives. Sadly, Richie contracted Myelofibrosis later in life and, despite fighting it with every fiber of his being, he succumbed to this rare, deadly disease leaving his wife, his son, his family and friends much too early! If this could happen to Richie, it could happen to any of us. This is why Myelofibrosis research is so important.
