Refreshments available after the service too. Bring your family and friends. We'd love to see you For the first time since April 2019, when the pandemic initially surged, East Weymouth Congregational Church will celebrate its first in-person Easter service in over 2 years. Doors will open at 9:30 am for Easter baked goods and other refreshments, hot cocoa & coffee. All ages are warmly invited for an Easter Family Friendly service of hope and renewal as the church celebrates Christ’s resurrection, April 17th at 10 am. Refreshments will be available after the service too. “Bring your family and friends,” says Rev. Gretchen Elmendorf, pastor. “After church, while in Jackson Square, take a stroll to a local restaurant and enjoy brunch. With any luck, you might even see some Herring at the Herring Run right down the street, another kind of ‘resurrection miracle’ in nature.” The church’s celebration will be filled with music, brass, choir, church school, Easter fun activities for children, nursery, and an Easter message of God's unstoppable love. “Whether you are our guest for a day, are here for a lifetime, or never do more than visit our church, our greatest desire is for you to feel a sense of peace and that you are deeply loved by God,” says Rev. Elmendorf. “Central to our church is the value of Christian charity and of the importance of giving to those in need. In that spirit of generosity for Easter, guests are invited, if they’d like, to bring a nonperishable for donation to the South Shore Interfaith Services,” says Rev. Gretchen Elmendorf. “We also will have a special collection of support for Ukraine and prayers that goodness and freedom overcome violence and evil.” A Masking Recommended policy is in place along with measures including, proper hand hygiene, regular cleaning and disinfecting procedures and proper distancing. Anyone who is sick or symptomatic should remain at home. Thank you for your cooperation! Founded in 1822, East Weymouth Congregational Church, UCC is located in the heart of Jackson Square and has been serving the Weymouth community for almost 200 years. The church will be celebrating its 200 th anniversary in May with concerts, mission projects for the wider community and a big celebration service Sunday, May 22 nd at 11:30 am to which any and all are invited. The church is very grateful for the good people of Weymouth. Without Jackson Square and Weymouth, East Weymouth Congregational Church wouldn’t exist. In addition to our Sanctuary for worship, our building is home for the Weymouth community: Center Stage Dance Company, Southeastern Philharmonic Orchestra, South Shore Stars PreSchool, Music at Sanctuary Hall concert series, and community support groups.
