Description
I am writing this for my father. He is 70 years old and currently cares for 2 cockatiels. He is the best bird parent. In the winter, he moves their cage from the kitchen at night to in front of the locked front storm door during the day so they can see outside and get better sun. He feeds them high quality food and he and my mother interact with them daily. In the spring, summer and fall, my dad moves their cage onto our screened in porch and opens the door so the birds can fly around and exercise. He then brings them back into the kitchen every night. One of the cockatiels did not look right a few years ago. She stayed on the floor of the cage, would not go out of the cage and did not seem like she was eating. My father took her to an avian veterinarian who diagnosed her with a urinary tract infection caused by passing too big an egg. My father had to give her antibiotics and actually massage her Cloaca with a special cream which my father was incredibly not comfortable with but did anyway. Anyway, she recovered and is very happy.
My father would like to add an older hand tamed parrot to his aviary. He was hoping to find a donated bird in need of a good home possibly if their owner had passed away. We know that some birds live a long time so my husband and I and then our son plan to take care of my father's birds once he passes away. If you are looking for a great, caring home for your parrot or have any questions, then please get in contact with me. Thank you.
