Description

Join us for the Op-Ed Writing Workshop & Training, Part II! Parents and community leaders will begin to craft an opinion editorial together. Join EmpowerED Families and Black Worldschoolers Mobile Bookstore as we continue our Read to L.E.A.D. (Liberation, Elevation, and Delight) Literacy Campaign. As Miss Ruby Bailey explained to us in the last House Meeting, it is important to know the narratives that are being said and written about Black and Latinx families, and it is our responsibility to challenge those narratives. Join us as we continue that journey of raising our voices to challenge dismissive narratives and begin to share the reality of our Black and Latinx children through writing and sharing with the larger community. What interests you about literacy? How do we hold our communities, schools, and political leaders accountable when it comes to making sure Black and Latinx children are thriving? What has history taught us about the importance of literacy and political education in these communities? We need your voice! Join us on April 19th at Big Brothers Big Sisters. Food and childcare provided.
