Chicago Sports Medicine Society presents the Spring 2022 Educational Meeting & Seminar Chicago Sports Medicine Society in conjunction with UIC College of Medicine, Departments of Orthopaedics, Radiology, Pain Management, & Rehab Medicine present the Spring 2022 Educational Meeting & Seminar. This course is hosted at Resurrection Medical Center, Marion Conference Center. Symposium topics will include: Managing shoulder instability in an athlete, athletic activity with hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos (hEDS) syndrome and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD), dermatologic conditions in sports, improved patient care for the permanently sidelined athlete, and current review of rotator cuff. Learning Objectives: Recognize, evaluate, and treat shoulder instability in athletes.Recognize and screen for hEDS using the 2017 International Classification, ability to compare and contrast hEDS and HSD, ability to design exercise plans for patients/athletes with hypermobility.Recognize dermatologic conditions frequently associated with sports, be able to refer to medical personnel, and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the conditions to other participants.Recognize the emotional toll permanently sidelined athletes experience and assist in navigating through the situation.Recognize the importance of the rotator cuff in athletic performance, the changes over time in injury treatment, and ability to plan and implement an appropriate strength and flexibility program for the athlete. Registration is open to the first 50 registrants. Masks are REQUIRED to be worn whenever you are not eating or drinking in the building. Refunds available with 24 hour notice. CSMS is approved by the BOC, Inc. to offer continuing education credit (5) for ATCs and IPTA for PTs.
