GROTON, CT — A major Massachusetts-based grocery chain with 35 locations in Connecticut announced Tuesday it will close all its stores Easter Sunday and the following Monday to give employees a "much-needed rest" amid the new coronavirus pandemic. This includes the Groton store. "We want to thank all of our retail heroes," Charles D'Amour, Big Y's president and CEO, said in a statement posted on the company's website. "We hope that this break will allow our employees to spend more time with their loved ones and give them much-needed rest." All stores will be restocked and cleaned during the hiatus in preparation for reopening on Tuesday, April 14. Store hours will remain the same: from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. for seniors and individuals with compromised immune systems, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for all customers. Connecticut Big Y stores are located in Avon, Bethel, Branford, Cheshire, Danielson, Derby, East Windsor, Ellington, Enfield, Groton, Guilford, Manchester, Mansfield, Marlborough, Meriden, Milford, Monroe, Mystic, Naugatuck, New Milford, Newtown, North Branford, North Haven, Norwich, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Plainfield, Plainville, Rocky Hill, Shelton, Stafford, Stratford, Tolland, Torrington and West Hartford.
