Ride On Service To End At Midnight Every Day: Coronavirus

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County is reducing hours for Ride On buses again during the coronavirus pandemic. Starting Sunday, buses will no longer service routes after midnight, unless drivers are running behind schedule. There is no fare to ride the bus; and passengers should only be using public transportation for essential trips. Thirty-six Ride On routes are affected by this service plan. In an effort to stem the spread of COVID-19, passengers must board buses at the rear doors (unless they use a boarding ramp). All passengers are also required to wear face coverings. The face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N95 respirators, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Those critical supplies are reserved for doctors, nurses, first responders, and other frontline health care workers. Instead, riders should opt for face coverings made of cloth. Scarfs, bandanas, and t-shirts are all viable substitutes — as long as they fit snugly and cover the nose and mouth completely. Click here for the CDC's DIY face mask tutorial.
