Art Market Sales Assistant needed ASAP

New Orleans LA

Description

I own a small handmade jewelry business that continues to grow with each year! The bulk of my sales are done at various art markets and I'm looking for someone to work my booth at those markets so that I can focus on producing inventory. In short, I’m looking for a hip, fun, funky, hard-working person who is passionate about art and handmade goods. In more detail… I'm looking for someone to work at a nightly art market called the Frenchmen Art Bazaar at 619 Frenchmen St. in New Orleans. This market runs Thursday through Monday Nights. Set-up starts at 5pm, the market officially starts at 7pm, and the market closes for breakdown of the set-up at 12am. Right now, I’m usually signed up for four of those nights and it’s usually Thursday through Sunday. This market garners a TON of foot traffic due to it’s central location on Frenchmen Street. With that being said, there’s an incredible opportunity to make great commission from the volume of sales! This job is not for everyone and I want to be up front about that. *Cue dramatic music* I don’t say that to scare you off, but I do want you to be aware of everything that this job entails before considering it. This job requires that you be a bit of a night owl because of the hours of operation. It’s an outdoor market, so being comfortable with working during hot, sweaty nights, or cold, humid ones is a must. Though a patio umbrella will be provided, some nights it may pour tons of rain out of nowhere for 20 minutes and you’ll have to quickly cover up all of the jewelry or pull stuff off of the table so it doesn’t get wet. Some nights it may be frustratingly windy and you’ll have to hold down display pieces during the wind gusts. All that to say, you have to be okay with working through any and all pressurized situations that come along with the nature of working an outdoor night market. This job requires that you be able to lift and pull at least 40 pounds of weight. For example, once parked on/near Frenchmen Street for your shift, you will load up a wagon with the whole set-up and roll it to the market to set-up. You’ll be doing the same thing at the end of the night. The roads, as I’m sure you well know, are notoriously uneven and you’ve got to be comfortable with maneuvering that with the wagon as well. This job requires that you live near New Orleans and have a reliable vehicle that can fit all of the booth set-up inside of it. This set-up will be yours to hold onto for all of your shifts because you will be unloading and loading the set-up each market shift. For a frame of reference, I own a Toyota Corolla and it's able to fit my whole set-up with the back seats folded down! Consistency is a crucial responsibility for this position. I’m a one-woman show, so each day you work, I’m also working in the studio. When you’re at the market, I’ll be making inventory to keep stocked for these markets. Things sell very quickly and I need that time to keep up with production to ensure that you’re well-stocked and able to make a lot sales as a result. With that being said, this position requires that you be reliable and that you consistently follow through with all of your scheduled shifts. The right candidate will: -Have a very warm and bright personality -Be willing to always engage with and help customers -Be sales oriented (as you will be working on commission) If this job interests you, take some time to explore my website (www.ZilJewelry.com) and message me with the following: 1. Tell me a little bit about yourself and what would make you right for this position 2. Do you have any sales experience? (Not necessarily required) 3. Are you available to start ASAP? I look forward to hearing from you!! Best, Sarah
