Film: Anais in Love, sponsored by Magnolia Pictures Screening: April 27, 2022, 7:00 pm @ AMC Sunset 5 Q&A screening after the film Film Summary: Anaïs in Love is a sensitive portrait of an impulsive young woman. The film begins with Anaïs’ uncertainty in her relationship with her current boyfriend, all while struggling professionally to complete her thesis. After attending a friend’s party, Anaïs meets and falls into an affair with a middle-aged publisher named Daniel (Denis Podalydès). As their relationship quickly begins to fall apart, Anaïs discovers and becomes enchanted by the literary work of Daniel’s wife, Emilie (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi), and after a chance encounter with Emilie, Anais begins to pursue her and a flirtation begins to develop, ultimately turning into something much more meaningful for both women. A lighthearted nod to classical romances, the film explores the longings of wayward hearts. The film stars Anaïs Demoustier (Alice and the Mayor, Pauline Enslaved, Sweet Evil), Valeria Bruni Tedeschi (Like Crazy, Human Capital, It’s Easier for a Camel…) and Denis Podalydès (The Conquest, Caché, The Da Vinci Code). The feature is set to a gorgeous score of violin and cello compositions by Nicola Piovani and captivates the viewer with the bright, inviting cinematography from Noé Bach, beautifully capturing the cool light of Paris and Normandy, further adding to the film’s breezy charm. Anaïs in Love will open theatrically on April 29 and digitally and on-demand May 6. NOTE: Indie Focus is reserved L.A. Times subscribers only.
