We're celebrating Earth Month with an ode to the mighty moss with workshops on how to DIY a moss wall and make your plant into kokedama. For Earth Month, Seed and Soul Club wants to keep on the conservation theme by hosting our first event as an ode to the mighty moss and its many ways its used sustainably. Join us in the historic Mission Dolores and take a peak of its unofficial gardens for our first workshop(s) of the year! Participate in one or both workshops and get your moss on! Lunch with be provided for all who register. We will be sending an email of what you should bring with you to this event including places where you can find objects you can repurpose. ---- About a Safe Event ---- - It is encouraged but not required to wear a mask. - Masks and hand-sanitizers will be provided. - Please stay home if you are exhibiting, or were recently exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. All refunds will be honored. - This will be hosted in an indoor location. - The organizers reserve the right to turn away attendees who violate any of our event-safety policies. - Leashed, well-behaved furry friends are welcomed! --- SCHEDULE --- 930am: Check-In 10am: Moss Wall Workshop 1230pm: Lunch, Tour, Moss Talk 2pm: Kokedama Workshop ---- About DIY Moss Wall Workshop --- - 10am - 12pm (Check-in by 930am and enjoy some light refreshments) - Bring your own trays, wooden boxes, etc no bigger than 8x8in to repurpose and decorate with moss and preserved planty things provided for a work of art that you can hang on your wall. - Follow along as instructor and floral arranger, Grace Andrade, guides you on how to build your moss art! - All materials will be provided, but please do bring your tray, wooden box, or container to use to build your moss wall along with any items you'd like to include. We will provide you with a list of place where you can find repurposed items closer to the event date. - Check out Grace here: floralswithgrace.com ----- About Lunch, Tour and Moss Talk ----- - 1pm - 2pm - Lunch is included with your registration. Please don't forget to answer the question regarding any dietary restrictions you may have. - Option to partake in a walking tour of the Mission Dolores Cemetery and discuss how you can help private and community gardens like these year-round. - Option to listen to a representative from SF City College talk about the sustainability of moss and joining the many horticultural and art programs - free to SF residents! ---- About the Kokedama Workshop --- - Kokedama means "moss ball" in Japanese. Bring your own plant (no bigger than a 4in pot size) to "repot" into a kokedama style. (If you're unsure if your plant is ideal to convert in this way, feel free to reach out and ask.) - Materials will be provided, except for the plant. You're encouraged to also bring gardening tools, shears, and a potting mat. - Plants must be pest-free. ----- About Seed and Soul Club ----- The Club is an initiative born from a yearning for connection.
