Description
Desert Edibles Workshops Every Saturday in April and May 2022 in Ahwatukee! Time for more Plant Parties! Each week we will harvest what is in season and then prepare it in my kitchen. Historical ethnobotany, plant identification, harvesting times and methods, preparation, and storing methods for each plant will be explained. We'll meet at my home and sometimes go to different nearby spots to harvest. We start with a Gratitude Circle where we introduce ourselves and do a brief Group Gratitude to the earth and plants. We'll enjoy prickly pear tea and eating a wide variety of desert edibles samples each week. Includes something each week for you to take home such as paloverde beans, aloe vera, elephant food plants, or tea. I will also have my products for sale such as Sonoran Succotash--pickled yucca blossoms and desert capers (paloverde buds), Desert Enchantment Tea with prickly pear and mesquite flavors, Fermented Yucca Blossoms, Mesquite Flour, Mesquite Beans, Ironwood Beans, Paloverde Beans, Prickly Pear Powder, and Roasted Paloverde Snacks. If it is changed and you have already purchased a ticket, feel free to get a refund if the new time slot does not work for you to attend. Short walks will take place for harvesting. No hikes. Urban harvesting is usually on private property where I have gained permission. $20 per class is paid through Eventbrite. I will soon be posting free workshops to be held each Tuesday evening for finishing processing the plants we were harvesting on the prior Saturday.
