EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — A RideShare driver was stabbed by a passenger he picked up in East Patchogue on Sunday night, Suffolk police said. The driver told an officer that he was threatened by a passenger with a knife and was stabbed at a location on Montauk Highway at about 9:30 p.m., said police, adding that the driver then drove himself to Long Island Community Hospital for treatment of "minor injuries." No other details were available. In a similar incident hours later on Monday morning in a nearby Brookhaven neighborhood, another RideShare driver was nearly robbed by a stun gun-wielding passenger, police said. The driver picked up a passenger on Brookhaven Avenue at about 3:20 a.m. and the suspect held a stun gun up to his neck, demanding that he turn over his vehicle, but the driver refused, police said, adding that the suspect then "ran down the street." The driver was not injured, according to police. Police could not say if either incident is related. No additional details were released.
