MEDFORD, NY — Medford residents are finally getting their own library. This week, work has begun on a new branch building of the Patchogue-Medford, located in the Medford Athletic Complex, 2151 Horseblock Road.
The new building will be 5,000 square feet and offer residents closer access to library services, Patchogue-Medford Library officials said.
"Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a reality and for the support and enthusiasm we have received from our incredible community. The library is so excited to bring increased library services and more space to our Patchogue-Medford community," a Facebook post from the library announced on Monday.
The construction is expected to take around one year.
Now that construction has begun the project is estimated to take about a year to complete.
Renderings of the exterior and interior floor plans are posted to the library's website. There will be a space for outdoor programs and two community meeting rooms.
