LONG BEACH, NY — Following the eight days of Passover, Temple Emanu-el of Long Beach is commemorating Yom HaShoah-- Holocaust Remembrance Day -- on April 28.
Rabbi Jack Zanerhaft will lead the synagogue's special ceremony.
Guests will light six candles, each memorializing a million deaths. Cantor Lisa Kantor will perform a musical selection.
The synagogue is expecting to have a guest speaker to address the atrocities.
This year, the war in Ukraine will weigh heavily on the minds of everyone in attendance.
It is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
