HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man with six active arrest warrants was charged with shoplifting from the Hamden TJ Maxx last week, police said. On Friday at around 3:30 p.m., Hamden police responded to a reported shoplifting at the TJ Maxx located at 2335 Dixwell Ave. Following an investigation there, officers accused Jeffrey Tubman, 56, of New Haven of concealing over $350 worth of store merchandise in bags, then leaving the store without paying for the items. Tubman was stopped by the store's loss prevention officers, and police found that he had six active arrest warrants from multiple towns for second-degree failure to appear in court. Tubman was charged with sixth-degree larceny. He was held on a $1,000 bond for the shoplifting charge and $14,000 in court-set bonds for the failure to appear warrants, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 26.
