SEATTLE — State troopers are searching for a driver involved in a suspected road rage shooting over the weekend on Interstate 5. According to Washington State Patrol, the driver of a silver Chevy Cruze called 911 around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, reporting another driver fired a handgun at his vehicle after an "aggressive driving incident."
Troopers said the two vehicles were traveling southbound the freeway, just south of Boeing Access Road. The victim described the shooter as a man driving a newer model, hardtop, two-door Audi colored royal blue. Troopers said the driver of the Audi pulled up next to the victim's Chevy and fired several shots from a handgun, but the vehicle was not struck by gunfire.
Washington State Patrol asks anyone who saw the shooting or has information that could identify the driver of the Audi to contact detectives via e-mail. Troopers have investigated more than 20 shootings on King County freeways so far this year, up from 12 in all of 2021.
