SEATTLE — More than 5,000 homes and businesses briefly lost power in parts of southeast Seattle on Wednesday due to an equipment failure at a substation, officials said.
Seattle City Light tweeted around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday that about 5,500 customers lost power. Crews investgated the cause of the outages, which were between Renton Avenue South and Rainier Avenue South, in and around Rainier Beach, Lakeridge, Bryn Mawr, Skyway, Dunlap and Brighton.
Around 11 a.m. Wednesday, the utility said power was restored to most customers.
"Crews determined that an equipment failure at a substation caused the outage," the utility tweeted.
