Danvers Hires Its First Director Of Equity And Inclusion

DANVERS, MA — Danvers has tabbed Jasmine Ramon to be its first Director of Equity and Inclusion following two years of dealing with a succession of racial profiling, hateful graffiti and other incidents of bias both in the schools and throughout the community. Town Manager Steve Bartha said the New York native, who comes to town from the Latinx Center at Tufts University where she served as assistant director, will provide leadership in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion in the town, school district and the public library. "The events of the past few years, both locally and globally, have elevated the importance of establishing a culture of equity and inclusion, both as an organization and as a community," Bartha said. "Ms. Ramón emerged from a field of roughly 20 candidates as the clear choice for this position, and we are both grateful and excited that she chose to join our team." Ramon grew up in Newburgh, New York before moving to Boston to attend graduate school at Northeastern University. She graduated from Alfred University with a degree in communications studies and earned her Master's Degree at Northeastern. She also coaches youth soccer.
