MANASSAS, VA — A man chased someone with an axe, hit two victims with the axe, and used a chainsaw to damage their fence, the police department said. The man, Michael Tibbs Jr., was arrested on Tuesday. The two victims' injuries were not life-threatening, the police department said. They received medical treatment on Tuesday. Police said Tibbs came to a home in the 6400 block of Yates Ford Road in Manassas around 12 a.m. on Tuesday to use narcotics. While he was there, an argument broke out. During the altercation, Tibbs used the flat side of an axe to strike a woman in the lower body, according to the police report. He also cut another man's hand with the axe, police said. Authorities said that Tibbs also broke items in the home before leaving. The victims did not immediately contact police. Tibbs returned to the home several hours later, the police department said. This time, he used a chainsaw to damage the property's fence, according to the police report. Authorities also said that he used an axe to break several windows and doors in an attempt to enter the home. Neighbors called the police and reported that a man was armed with an axe and chasing one of the home's residents. When officers arrived on the scene, they encountered Tibbs as he was leaving the area. Officers took him into custody without further incident. In its report, the police department said Tibbs knew the victims. Tibbs is charged with 2 counts of malicious wounding, 2 counts of destruction of property, 1 count of attempted burglary, and 1 count of possession of burglarious tools.
