SAN LEANDRO, CA —The San Leandro Police Department and several nearby law enforcement agencies have joined forces to crack-down on bad drivers on Wednesday. Officers are looking for "speeding vehicles, seatbelt violations, distracted drivers on their cell phones, and any other dangerous driving habits which could cause harm to our residents or visitors," San Leandro Police said in an online post. "The goal of this operation is to deter dangerous driving, while educating the public, and enforcing the laws which commonly result in injury crashes or fatal collisions." The other agencies involved in this High-Intensity Traffic Team (H.I.T.T.) include the Hayward Police Department, Union City Police Department, CHP - Hayward and Castro Valley offices, Newark Police Department, and Alameda Police Department.
