By Elizabeth Ireland, Times of San Diego April 13, 2022 The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency reported 242 new COVID-19 infections Wednesday and five more deaths as hospitalizations remained steady. One new COVID-positive patient was admitted to San Diego County hospitals, according to the latest state data. Wednesday's data increased the county's cumulative coronavirus totals to 753,939 cases and 5,229 deaths. So far 4.0% of county residents with confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been hospitalized and 0.7% have died of the disease. A total of 1,229,500 — or 55.9% — of San Diego County residents who are fully vaccinated have received a booster shot, according to the agency. More than 2.96 million — or 94.2% — of San Diego County residents age 5 and older are at least partially vaccinated and 2.60 million, or 82.7%, are fully vaccinated.
