Press release from the City of New Orleans: April 8, 2022 NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced that the Department of Public Works will allow a temporary closure to vehicular traffic on the 900 block of Canal Street between Baronne Street/Dauphine Street and Roosevelt Way/Burgundy Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13 to safely accommodate operation of a crane lift at The Ritz Carlton. Detours and road closures will be necessary for lakebound vehicular traffic, while riverbound traffic will remain open. In the interest of public safety, New Orleans Police will set up barricades and have officers in place at each end of the closed block. Drivers will be directed to detour this closure by turning left onto Baronne Street, following detour signs onto Common Street, then Elk Street, where a u-turn on Basin Street will allow drivers to turn right onto Canal to continue lakebound.
