Hello, neighbors! It's me again, Shannon Denney, your host of the New Orleans Daily. First, today's weather: Breezy; a strong p.m. t-storm. High: 83 Low: 65. Here are the top stories in New Orleans today: Residents of Village de L'Est have been victimized by burglaries for months, mainly targeting senior citizens. This past week, an elderly woman had burglars break into her home and tie her up while demanding money and ransacking her posessions. The neighboorhood residents have held protests, asking for more police presence. (WDSU New Orleans) Monday night saw a total of five shootings that sent six victims to the hospital. So far, no deaths that have resulted from these incidents have been reported but NOPD is working hard to investigate each incident. (WDSU New Orleans) Three weeks after the tornado that hit Arabi, homeowners can choose to have their damaged homes demolished with help from St. Bernard Parish Government. The parish is hauling debris to the landfill which the state will reimburse them for later.
