Press release from the City of Sioux Falls: April 11, 2022 Beginning on Monday, April 11, 2022, construction will begin on the new intersection of West 49th Street and West Avenue. West Avenue will be closed to traffic at 50th Street and 44th Street with pedestrian traffic detoured along 51st Street, Western Avenue, 45th Street, Hawthorne Avenue and 44th Street. This work is anticipated to be complete within 20 working days. Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and will want to consider alternate routes. Lane Closure – 26th Street Beginning on Monday, April 11, 2022, the westbound lane of East 26th Street between Sherman Avenue and 10th Avenue will be closed to allow crews to perform concrete joint repair, partial depth concrete repair, and curb & gutter repair. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained in the eastbound and center turn lanes. In the upcoming weeks, the location of the lane closures on East 26th Street will vary between Sherman Avenue and 10th Avenue. At a minimum, one lane of traffic in each direction will remain open at all times. Access to businesses will be maintained This work is anticipated to be complete in late April 2022. Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes. Falls Park Visitors Center Restrooms Beginning on Monday, April 11, 2022, renovation work will begin on the Falls Park Visitor's Center restrooms and will be closed to the public during construction.
