Press release from the Des Moines County Government: April 12, 2022 Registration for Des Moines County Conservation summer camps at Starr's Cave Nature Center opens on Tuesday April 26th at 7:00am. Registration is through CampDoc at http://app.campdoc.com/register/desmoinescounty. For best results use an updated Google Chrome or Safari as your web browser. All camps will remain open until filled. No registrations will be accepted prior to the opening dates. Camp schedules, descriptions, and costs can be found on the Des Moines County Conservation website. This year we would like to highlight our River Raiders camp for students ages 13-15. This is a 4 day off site camp with two overnights camping and canoeing the Iowa River in Louisa County. We will spend one day in orientation reviewing equipment, safety, and team building in preparation for a two-night, three-day canoe camping experience. Campers will explore, fish, forage, and have fun. Campers will learn to work together to accomplish goals and challenges, building confidence and trust, both in themselves and in others. Starr's Cave Nature Center camps address the growing need to introduce and engage today's youth in the natural world. Camps are designed to be fun and active and to provide high quality environmental learning experiences through games, crafts, stories, and in-depth nature exploration. Kids love coming to our camps and look forward to them each summer. Parents love our camps because they know their kids are having fun and learning at the same time. For more information regarding camps call Starr's Cave Nature Center at (319) 753-5808. A full description and schedule of camps can be found on the Des Moines County Conservation website.
