PLEASANTON, CA — The National Day of Prayer for 2022 is set for May 5. The Tri-Valley is having its event surrounding the day at the Alameda County Fairgrounds Amphitheater, hosted by District 1 Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert. "The goal of this event is to highlight the cooperation and collaboration between church and state, recognizing that in America, freedom of religion allows us all to pray in our own way," Haubert said. "This event is a great way to bring people of all different backgrounds together, especially during a time of international conflict." The following church leaders from the Tri-Valley and East Bay will be part of the prayer: Cornerstone FellowshipHarbor LightGlad Tidings ChurchMuslim Community Center –East BayCoptic Orthodox ChurchThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day SaintsForerunner Christian ChurchHindu American FoundationPalma Ceia BaptistSt. MichaelFa Yun Chan TempleTri-Valley Sikh Center Chabad of the Tri-Valley Fremont Councilmember Rick Jones will present the opening comments. Walk-ins are accepted. The prayer event can also be viewed on Zoom or on Facebook Live here. An annual day of prayer was established by congress in 1952 then in 1988 the law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
