MANCHESTER, NH — New Hampshire State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident at the Route 101 and Interstate 93 interchange on Wednesday. Around 6:30 p.m., state troopers and Manchester fire and rescue teams were sent to the westbound onramp to I-93 from Route 101 for a crash. They found a 2006 Yamaha R6 motorcycle in the breakdown lane with heavy damage when they arrived. According to Amber Lagace, the public information officer for the department, the driver, Tanner Smith, 20, was found down an embankment about 100 yards from the motorcycle. "(The) preliminary investigation indicates Smith failed to negotiate the curve of the onramp from 101 westbound to I-93 southbound, lost control, and struck the guardrail where he was subsequently ejected from the motorcycle," she said. Smith was taken to Elliot Hospital with serious injuries by the Manchester firefighters. "Speed appears to be a factor in this crash; however, all aspects remain under investigation," she said. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper H. Gula at [email protected] or 603-227-2175. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
