New Head Rugby Coach Named For Greenwich High School

GREENWICH, CT — A former student-athlete has been named the new head coach of the Greenwich High School boys rugby team. The school's athletic director, Gus Lindine, announced this week that Mike Fina will replace Joe Kelly, who resigned as the team's head coach at the end of last season after "many successful [seasons]." Fina joined the school's boys rugby staff in 2015 and has served as the freshman head coach and varsity assistant in his time with the team. He also worked over the last few years with coach Erin Martschenko on developing the girls rugby program, leading up to its initial season this year. Fina previously coached football at the school in 2012, according to a prepared statement. He has also served as the freshman assistant coach, freshman head coach and varsity defensive line coach. As a student-athlete, Fina played football and rugby, and was also a member of the inaugural bowling team. After graduation, he attended Manhattanville College and earned a bachelor's degree in sport studies. He is currently pursuing a master of arts teaching degree in physical education and sports pedagogy.
