GREENWICH, CT — A veteran coach and educator has been named the new head coach of the Greenwich High School baseball team. The school's athletic director, Gus Lindine, announced this week that Adrian Arango will replace Mike Mora, who resigned at the end of last season after "many successful years" as head coach. For the last several seasons, Arango has been a member of the New Canaan High School baseball and basketball staffs, where he assisted in leading the boys to a state basketball championship. Arango has coached baseball on multiple levels, including head coach, assistant coach and instructor, and has assisted in "developing many fine athletes" over the years, according to a statement. He has also worked as an educator at various Stamford elementary schools since 2012. A former Stamford High School student-athlete, Arango played on the school's baseball team under Head Coach Bobby Augustyn. During his high school baseball career, Stamford was a two-time FCIAC Western Division Champion, and Arango was recognized as an FCIAC All-West recipient. Arango earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Connecticut and received his master's degree in elementary education from the University of Bridgeport.
