NORTHBROOK, IL — Five Northbrook seventh-graders recently shaved their heads to raise more than $5,000 for children's cancer research via the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Calling themselves the "Wood Oaks Shavers," the Wood Oaks Junior High students are in their third year of raising money for the cause. The team members are: Thomas Rubin, Jacob Carlos, Ryan Pamba, Simon Ferencz and Lucas Paich. Rubin has been raising money for St. Baldrick's since he was 6. As of Wednesday morning, the group has raised $5,039, more than their goal of $5,000. Check out their progress here. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer and donor powered charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives, according to its website.
