WAWA, PA — Wawa is about to turn 58, and to celebrate it is offering free coffee chain wide and donating $1 million to its charity partners. Thursday is Wawa Day and will recognize the Delaware County-based chain's nearly 60 years of doing business. Fans of Wawa can get any size hot coffee for free on Thursday. Additionally, Wawa is launching a limited-time beverage to support Children's Miracle Network Thursday. The drink, called "Day Brightener," is a Popping Bubbles Passionfruit Lemonade beverage. It features Wawa's lemonade with a fizzy passionfruit twist. Wawa is making $25,000 contribution to Children's Miracle Network to support member hospital's Child Life Services dedicated to making patient's time at local hospitals a bit brighter. And the "Day Brightener" has a separate aspect: associates from all 960 stores will honor one customer as their store's official "Day Brightener" and give them a gift box full of goodies to acknowledge the positivity they spread throughout their communities. In another charitable effort, Wawa is donating a total of $1 million in gift cards to The Wawa Foundation's National and Community Partners, including American Red Cross, Check-Out Hunger, Children's Miracle Network, JDRF, LLS, Special Olympics, USO and Meals on Wheels, to help them continue delivering much-needed services to their communities. Each organization will receive about $100,000 in gift cards in support of their fuel/food needs and family assistance programs. Wawa will kick off Wawa Day at 9 a.m. Thursday at its store at 2608 Chichester Ave. in Boothwyn. The event will include a ceremonial coffee pour, Wawa leaders such as President and CEO Chris Gheysens, the Chichester High School Drumline, Wawa mascot Wally Goose, and more.
