Felon Fired Gun Inside Highland Park Home, Threated Roommate: Police

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A Highland Park felon faces a trio of fresh felony charges after officers called to his home during a domestic dispute Wednesday reported they found a pair of firearms and determined that he had shot them inside. Robert P. Joor, 55, of the 600 block of Hyacinth Lane, was arrested Wednesday and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, felon in possession of firearm and aggravated assault using a deadly weapon, records show. Officers were called to his home around 11:30 p.m. for a report of that Joor was armed with a gun and had threatened his roommate with it during an argument, police said. While investigating, they found that Joor had been shooting a gun inside the home at some earlier point in time, according to Deputy Chief William Bonaguidi. "The shots were not directed at anyone, but holes were observed in an interior wall consistent with bullet holes," Bonaguidi told Patch. "No holes were found on the exterior of the residence leading us to believe that all bullets were contained to the interior of the home," he added. Bonaguidi said officers found a .22 caliber Ruger revolver and a 12 Ga. Franchi shotgun in the Hyacinth Avenue house. Robert P. Joor, 55, of Highland Park, faces felony charges in connection with allegations he threatened his roommate with a gun that he possessed illegally and had earlier fired recklessly. (Highland Park Police Department) Joor was booked into the Lake County Jail and ordered to remain there until his next court appearance Thursday unless he can come up with the $15,000 cash portion of his bail.
