Third Street Parkway Restoration To Impact Downtown Geneva Streets

GENEVA, IL — The Third Street Parkway Restoration project in downtown Geneva will be underway next week, and it will temporarily impact traffic patterns, officials said. From 7 a.m to 3 p.m. April 18, crews from the Geneva Public Works Department will be restoring parkways on the side side of Third Street from Campbell to Franklin streets and from Fulton Street to Crescent Place. The work involves grading, seeding and putting straw down on the parkways, officials said. All on-street parking on the east side of the blocks being worked on will be temporarily closed. Businesses will remain open, though. Parking is expected to reopen mid-afternoon April 18, Geneva officials said. While parking is limited, drivers can park on other sections of Third Street. Geneva officials said downtown businesses were notified Tuesday of the weather-dependent project. Should it rain, officials said the restoration work will be rescheduled to April 19. In an announcement, officials also asked downtown Geneva patrons to avoid walking on parkways to allow the grass to grow this spring.
